Islamabad (Khyber Mail), 12 August 2025 — Pakistan and the United States reaffirmed their shared commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms during the latest round of the U.S.-Pakistan Counterterrorism Dialogue, held in Islamabad on Tuesday. The high-level engagement underscored the importance of sustained cooperation in addressing evolving security threats and strengthening institutional resilience.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Special Secretary for the United Nations Nabeel Munir and U.S. Department of State Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism Gregory D. LoGerfo. Delegations from both sides discussed strategies to counter terrorist groups including the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), ISIS-Khorasan, and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The U.S. delegation commended Pakistan’s continued efforts in containing terrorist entities that threaten regional and global peace. It also expressed condolences for the victims of recent attacks, including the Jaffar Express bombing and the school bus attack in Khuzdar, which claimed civilian and law enforcement lives.

Both sides emphasized the need to develop robust institutional frameworks and enhance capabilities to counter the use of emerging technologies by terrorist networks. The dialogue also reaffirmed the importance of collaboration in multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations, to promote enduring counterterrorism solutions.

Reiterating the strength of the U.S.-Pakistan partnership, both delegations agreed that structured and sustained engagement is essential to advancing regional stability and global security. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen cooperation and share best practices in counterterrorism operations and policy development.
