Caracas, September 19, 2025 (Agencies): Venezuela’s National Assembly has unanimously approved, in its first reading, a strategic partnership and cooperation agreement with Russia aimed at deepening bilateral ties across multiple sectors.

Parliament Speaker Jorge Rodriguez announced the decision during a plenary session, asking members to signal their support for the draft law. “The decision is adopted unanimously,” Rodriguez declared, underscoring the parliament’s unified stance on the agreement.

The agreement was presented by ruling party lawmaker Roy Daza, who emphasized its long-term significance for Venezuela’s foreign policy. Daza said the deal reflects the dynamic growth of political, trade, and diplomatic relations between Caracas and Moscow, and would serve as a framework for sustained cooperation in the future.

Officials said the agreement is expected to cover a wide range of areas, including economic collaboration, scientific and technological exchange, and closer diplomatic engagement — part of Venezuela’s broader effort to diversify its international partnerships and strengthen ties with key global allies.
