Islamabad, June 24, 2026 (Agencies) — Claims circulating on social media and attributed to geopolitical analyst Pepe Escobar allege that Pakistani intelligence authorities intercepted an alleged Mossad plan targeting Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during diplomatic talks in Switzerland linked to the Iran conflict.

According to the claims, Pakistani security officials allegedly detected a possible operation against Field Marshal Munir while he was involved in discussions connected to efforts to end the Iran conflict and sent a warning message to Israel. However, the allegation has not been independently confirmed by Pakistani authorities, Israeli officials, US representatives, or any international organization involved in the negotiations.
The reported claim emerged amid sensitive diplomatic activity involving Pakistan, Iran and the United States. Pakistan has been playing a role in regional diplomacy, while talks have focused on ceasefire arrangements, sanctions relief, nuclear issues and maintaining stability in the region.
Analyst Pepe Escobar has previously highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic position and described Field Marshal Asim Munir as a significant figure in current geopolitical developments, but the latest assassination claim remains unverified.
The alleged incident has gained attention online because of the heightened tensions surrounding the Iran conflict and the involvement of multiple regional and global powers. No official statement has been issued confirming an assassination attempt or an intelligence interception operation.
