Karachi, July 8, 2026 (Agencies) – Unconfirmed reports circulating on social media claim that a K2 Airways Boeing 737-400BDSF freighter, registration AP-BOI, operating a cargo flight from Sharjah to Karachi, has crashed into the North Arabian Sea.
According to the reports, Pakistani naval and air assets have been mobilized for an extensive maritime search and rescue operation. It is claimed that PNS ZULFIQAR has been diverted to the suspected crash site, while a Pakistan Air Force Saab surveillance aircraft has taken off from PAF Base Bholari. A Pakistan Navy ATR-72 maritime patrol aircraft has also reportedly been deployed from Turbat. In addition, the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) merchant vessel “Lahore” has reportedly been directed to the area and is participating in the ongoing search and rescue mission.
However, no official confirmation has been issued by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), the Pakistan Navy, the Pakistan Air Force, or K2 Airways regarding the reported crash or the deployment of search and rescue assets.
K2 Airways is a Karachi-based private cargo airline founded in 2018 by former Airblue Chief Operating Officer Tariq M. Chaudhary. Initially established to launch passenger operations, the airline later shifted its focus to cargo services. It received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority in December 2024 and commenced commercial cargo operations shortly thereafter.
The airline currently operates a single Boeing 737-400BDSF (Boeing Converted Freighter), registration AP-BOI, which was inducted into its fleet in 2024. The aircraft is used for scheduled and charter cargo operations linking Pakistan with destinations in the United Arab Emirates, China, and Central Asia.
Authorities have not confirmed the aircraft’s status, the number of crew members on board, or whether any distress signal was received. Likewise, reports of search and rescue operations remain unverified through official channels.
