Istanbul, September 26, 2025 (Agencies): Turkish Airlines has struck a major agreement with Boeing to purchase up to 225 aircraft, marking one of the largest commercial orders in the airline’s history as it pushes ahead with its ambitious 2033 fleet-expansion vision.
In a filing to investors on Friday, the flag carrier confirmed a firm order for 50 Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets—35 of the 787-9 variant and 15 of the larger 787-10—with options for 25 additional aircraft. Negotiations with engine suppliers Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace for engines, spares, and maintenance services are ongoing.
“This landmark agreement represents much more than fleet growth. It reflects our leadership in the aviation industry and our dedication to innovation and operational excellence,” said Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines. He noted the aircraft will be integral to the carrier’s 2033 Vision of expanding its fleet to 800 planes.

Boeing also announced that Turkish Airlines has reached an agreement for 100 737 MAX jets, a mix of 737-8s and 737-10s, with options for 50 more. The finalization of this order remains subject to talks with engine manufacturer CFM International. Once confirmed, it would represent the airline’s largest single-aisle Boeing order to date.
“We are honored that Turkish Airlines has once again chosen the 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX to power its future growth,” said Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Deliveries of the 787 Dreamliners are scheduled between 2026 and 2029, while delivery timelines for the 737 MAX aircraft have yet to be announced. Turkish Airlines emphasized that by 2035, its entire fleet is expected to consist of new-generation aircraft, supporting an average annual growth rate of around six percent.
The announcement came a day after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, though a widely speculated deal for F-16 fighter jets has not yet been finalized.
According to aviation database ch-aviation, Turkish Airlines already operates 22 Boeing 787-9s and 25 Boeing 737-8s. The 737-10 variant is still awaiting certification.
