Taipei, September 20, 2025 (Agencies): The Republic of China Army (RoCA) is set to induct the T112 sniper rifle into service, marking a significant boost to its precision long-range engagement capabilities. The announcement was made at the Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition (TADTE) 2025, held from 18–20 September.

An official from the 205th Arsenal of the Ministry of National Defense’s (MND) Armaments Bureau confirmed that the development phase of the 12.7 mm T112 sniper rifle—previously designated XT112—has been completed. Full-scale production of the weapon is set to commence, with deliveries to the RoCA expected within 2025.

The T112 will be primarily issued to the RoCA’s special operations forces’ sniper units, enhancing their ability to engage high-value targets at extended ranges.

According to the Armaments Bureau, the T112 is a 12.7×99 mm bolt-action, long-range precision rifle with an effective range of 2,000 meters (2 km). The rifle weighs around 12 kg and is fed from a 10-round detachable double-stack steel magazine.

The weapon is equipped with a tactical handguard, an aluminium alloy lower body, and a muzzle brake to improve shooter stability and recoil management.

In addition to the T112 sniper rifle, the Armaments Bureau showcased the T112 5.56 mm assault rifle at TADTE 2025. The rifle, designed for infantry use, features a 30-round magazine, an effective range of 600 meters, a polygon-thickened barrel, multifunction tactical handguard, integrated Picatinny rail, and adjustable stock—aimed at improving versatility and soldier ergonomics.

The induction of the T112 sniper rifle reflects Taiwan’s continuing efforts to modernize its armed forces and strengthen its defensive capabilities amid rising regional security challenges.
