Riyadh / Moscow, October 11, 2025 (Agencies) Saudia, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, has inaugurated its first direct flight service between Riyadh and Moscow, landing at Sheremetyevo International Airport in a move aimed at deepening tourism, business, and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The inaugural flight, SV 283, operated with a Boeing 787-9 aircraft, marked the beginning of a new three-times-weekly round-trip service. Starting October 12, the route will be serviced by a two-class Airbus A320 aircraft with 110 seats. Flight SV 283 will connect Riyadh to Moscow, while the return leg, SV 282, will operate in the opposite direction.

The new Riyadh-Moscow connection forms part of Saudia’s broader strategy under the Saudi Air Connectivity Program and aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals to boost international tourism, facilitate business expansion, and strengthen cultural exchanges.

The launch was welcomed by officials from both countries. Russian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sergey Kozlov hailed the new route as “the beginning of a history that will undoubtedly continue for a long time,” while Saudia’s Director General Ibrahim Al-Omar highlighted the airline’s commitment to expanding its international network and connecting Saudi Arabia with key global destinations.

Saudia currently operates a fleet of nearly 150 aircraft serving more than 100 destinations worldwide. The launch of the Riyadh-Moscow route marks another milestone in its ongoing expansion into European and international markets, offering greater convenience and connectivity for travelers from both nations.
