Moscow, August 14, 2025 (Agencies): Russia’s mysterious shortwave radio station UVB-76, widely nicknamed the “Doomsday Radio Station,” has once again stirred intrigue among analysts and radio enthusiasts after broadcasting a fresh series of cryptic voice messages in recent months, echoing patterns noted before major geopolitical events.

Operating since the late 1970s on frequency 4625 kHz, UVB-76 is known for its constant “buzzing” tone, occasionally interrupted by voice transmissions relaying seemingly random Russian words, numbers, and callsigns. While its exact purpose remains classified, experts believe it serves as a military communications channel, possibly for emergency orders or psychological signalling.

In April 2025, the station transmitted four rare codewords—“Neptune,” “Thymus,” “Foxcloak,” and “Nootabu”—within 24 hours. In June, two additional coded words—“azotobak” and “osholin”—were broadcast shortly after a phone call between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Observers also reported unusual activity following U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, with messages including “PANIROVKA,” “KLINOK,” and “BOBINA.”

Although some online speculation has linked the latest signals to pre-invasion patterns heard in early 2022, no verified evidence confirms a direct repeat of those exact code phrases. Analysts caution that such broadcasts are more likely to be a form of psychological manoeuvring rather than an indicator of imminent military action.

The latest activity has been closely monitored and dissected on specialised radio-interception forums and Telegram channels, with enthusiasts describing the phenomenon as a mix of Cold War-era secrecy and modern-day information warfare.
