QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN, PAKISTAN — September 30, 2025 (Agencies): A powerful explosion struck near the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters on Zarghoon Road in Quetta’s Model Town area earlier today, killing at least 10 people, including three FC personnel, and injuring 33 others, many of them critically. The blast, followed by intense gunfire, sent shockwaves across the city and prompted an immediate security lockdown.
According to initial reports from the Balochistan Home Department and eyewitness accounts, the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber disguised in FC uniform, targeting a high-security zone adjacent to key government and military installations. The explosion shattered windows of nearby buildings and caused significant damage to surrounding infrastructure.
Security forces responded swiftly, engaging the assailants in a brief but intense exchange. Officials confirmed that six terrorists, including the suicide attacker, were neutralized during the operation. The group behind the attack is suspected to be Fitnatul Hindustan, allegedly backed by foreign elements, though investigations are ongoing.
Emergency services rushed the injured to Civil Hospital Quetta, BMC Hospital, and the Trauma Centre, where an emergency has been declared. Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar confirmed the casualty figures and directed full medical mobilization. All consultants, doctors, nurses, and paramedics have been placed on high alert.
The blast comes amid heightened security concerns in Balochistan, where militant groups have previously targeted law enforcement and military personnel. Today’s attack underscores the persistent threat posed by insurgent networks and the need for enhanced counterterrorism coordination.
Authorities have cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive investigation. No group has officially claimed responsibility as of this report.
