Islamabad, January 8, 2026 (Agencies): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced plans to restart direct flights to London from Islamabad and introduce a new weekly service from Lahore, using Boeing 777 aircraft. The move marks a major expansion of the national carrier’s international operations following the lifting of previous restrictions.
The Islamabad–London route will operate three times a week, starting March 29, 2026, with flights scheduled every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. In addition, a weekly flight from Lahore to London will commence March 30, 2026, operating every Monday.
PIA’s management said the London routes remain among the airline’s most strategically important international destinations, catering to business travellers, tourists, and the large Pakistani diaspora in the United Kingdom. The use of Boeing 777 aircraft highlights the airline’s commitment to long-haul services and improved passenger comfort.
These services come after a six-year hiatus in direct flights to London, following restrictions imposed by the UK over safety certifications. PIA resumed UK operations in 2025 with Manchester flights, and the new London services represent the next phase of restoring full connectivity.
Officials said reservations and ticketing will open in the coming weeks, and the airline expects strong demand on both Islamabad and Lahore routes. The expansion reflects PIA’s broader efforts to modernise its fleet and increase international flight options in 2026.
