Tirah Valley, Pakistan August 29, 2025 (Khyber Mail) — Security forces successfully repulsed a major militant assault on Friday when a vehicle-borne suicide bomber targeted the Parak Bangla Battalion post in the volatile Tirah Valley of Khyber District. The attack began with the detonation of an explosive-laden vehicle, followed by intense gunfire from multiple directions.
Troops responded swiftly, engaging in fierce combat that lasted several hours. One soldier embraced martyrdom while several others sustained injuries and were evacuated to FTC Hospital in Larr Bagh for medical treatment.
The militant group Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack, although security officials have yet to verify the authenticity of the claim.
This incident comes amid a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) launched in the region since August 20, during which security forces have neutralized at least 25 militants, including a key commander identified as Abuzar, also known as Saddam. The operations have targeted multiple groups including Fitnatul Khawarij, Lashkar-e-Islam, and Jamaatul Ahrar, underscoring the strategic importance of the Tirah Valley in counterterrorism efforts.
The area remains highly vulnerable due to its rugged terrain and proximity to the Afghan border, which has historically facilitated cross-border militant infiltration. Officials have now launched a large-scale search and clearance operation to trace facilitators and prevent further attacks.
Military sources reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorist elements from the region, stating that operations will continue until complete stabilization is achieved.
The martyrdom of security personnel and the ongoing threat underscore the sacrifices made in the fight against extremism and the need for sustained vigilance in Pakistan’s tribal belt.
