LAHORE PAKISTAN, October 9, 2025 (Agencies): Pak Elektron Limited (PEL), a leading Pakistani manufacturer of electrical appliances and power equipment, has capitalized on recent US tariff measures by successfully entering the American transformer market. The company shipped its first consignment of distribution transformers to the United States on March 13, 2025, tied to orders worth approximately 44 million US dollars.

Analysts say the shift in US trade policy, including steep tariffs of up to 145 percent on Chinese transformers and tightened rules on supply chains through Mexico, has created new opportunities for exporters like PEL. By offering competitive prices and shorter delivery timelines, the Lahore-based company has positioned itself to fill a growing supply gap in the American market.

PEL projects export revenues of around 50 million US dollars for 2025 and expects to double this figure in 2026 if demand remains strong. Industry experts note that export margins on transformers are higher than those in the company’s domestic business, making overseas markets increasingly attractive.
The company’s entry into the US transformer market comes after securing compliance with safety and quality standards required by American utilities. The initial shipment marks a significant step for PEL, which has traditionally focused on the local power sector and home appliances.
While the outlook is promising, the company faces challenges including securing raw material supplies, managing international logistics, and adapting to potential future changes in US trade policies. However, stakeholders view this development as a milestone for Pakistan’s manufacturing sector, potentially paving the way for broader industrial exports to high-value markets.
