Islamabad, Pakistan (Agencies) August 13, 2025 — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially announced the formation of Pakistan’s Army Rocket Force, a new military command designed to enhance the country’s conventional combat capabilities and strategic deterrence. The announcement was made during the central Independence Day ceremony at Jinnah Sports Stadium, marking Pakistan’s 78th year of independence and commemorating its recent victory in the Marka-e-Haq conflict.

Addressing a gathering of senior civil and military officials, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Prime Minister stated that the Rocket Force would be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and capable of targeting adversaries from all directions. He described the initiative as a milestone in Pakistan’s evolving defense architecture.

“The brave soldiers of our armed forces fought the enemy by becoming a wall of lead,” Sharif said, referencing the swift four-day military response to India’s unprovoked attack earlier this year. “India’s pride was reduced to dust.”

The Prime Minister praised Field Marshal Asim Munir for his leadership and strategic foresight, crediting him with not only military success but also securing key diplomatic and trade agreements, including with the United States. He reiterated Pakistan’s status as the seventh nuclear power and the only Islamic country with such capability, emphasizing that its nuclear arsenal is a defensive pillar, not a tool of aggression.

Sharif also unveiled a symbolic digital memorial titled Battle for Truth, featuring five niches representing Pakistan’s core defense domains: Army, Air Force, Navy, Cyber, and Space. The Rocket Force is expected to integrate with these domains to form a unified strategic command.

The Prime Minister invited all political parties to join a proposed Charter of Stability, framing it as a national imperative beyond economic recovery. He affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Kashmir and Palestine, and called on the youth and overseas Pakistanis to continue contributing to national development.

The establishment of the Army Rocket Force marks a significant evolution in Pakistan’s military doctrine, signaling its intent to bolster conventional deterrence alongside its nuclear capabilities
