Karachi, January 24, 2026 (Khyber Mail) – Pakistan Navy Ships TABUK and MOAWIN successfully carried out a swift humanitarian medical evacuation operation in the Indian Ocean, rescuing a Sri Lankan national requiring urgent medical attention from an Indonesian-flagged vessel, MV Grey Palm, located about 800 nautical miles, approximately 1,500 kilometres, off Pakistan’s coast.

The operation was initiated after the Sri Lankan Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre formally requested medical assistance for a critically ill Sri Lankan crew member onboard MV Grey Palm. Responding as a first responder, the Pakistan Navy promptly dispatched its ships to the location and evacuated the patient along with an attendant.

Following the evacuation, the patient was immediately provided necessary medical treatment onboard the Pakistan Navy ship. Sri Lankan authorities and the family of the affected individual expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its timely response and humanitarian support.

The successful medical evacuation underscores the Pakistan Navy’s operational readiness and its longstanding commitment to ensuring the safety of life at sea, regardless of nationality, in accordance with international maritime obligations.
