Peshawar, March 4, 2026 (Khyber Mail) — Residents of Mohallah Ghufran e Habib outside Kohati Gate have raised serious concerns over open and uncovered manholes in the locality, warning that the situation poses a grave risk to public safety and could result in a tragic accident if not addressed immediately.
According to local residents, several manholes remain uncovered along busy streets and residential pathways in the area, creating a constant hazard for pedestrians, motorists and especially children. With limited street lighting in some parts, the danger becomes even more severe at night, increasing the likelihood of someone falling into the exposed drains.
Community members have urged the concerned municipal and water and sanitation authorities to take urgent notice and ensure that proper covers are installed without delay. They stressed that repeated complaints have yet to yield a permanent solution, leaving the neighborhood vulnerable to a disaster waiting to happen.
Residents emphasized that timely preventive action is essential to safeguard lives and avoid potential injuries or fatalities. They have called on the relevant department to conduct an immediate inspection of the site and implement corrective measures to restore safety in the area.
