Peshawar, February 18, 2026 (Khyber Mail) – The 6th International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Internet of Things concluded at the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar, bringing together academics, researchers and industry representatives to explore emerging technologies and their real-world applications.
The conference was organized by University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar in collaboration with Southeast University, Cardiff University, the International Water Management Institute and industry partner Elegancia, reflecting strong international academic and industry linkages.
Addressing the closing session as chief guest, Dr. Mohammad Akmal, Chairman of the Pakistan Science Foundation, said transparency remains the cornerstone of scientific credibility. He stressed that clearly defined research priorities and robust evaluation mechanisms are essential for meaningful transformation in higher education and research institutions. Highlighting the Foundation’s Grants Management System, he said the automated platform ensures transparent and objective evaluation of research proposals. He also announced plans to establish state-of-the-art research laboratories in universities across Pakistan, noting that UET Peshawar has already set up a STEM Lab with PSF support.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak emphasized that the true value of such conferences lies in translating academic research into practical solutions that benefit society and industry. He appreciated Conference Chair Dr. Nasru Minallah and his team for successfully organizing the event and assured continued institutional support for future initiatives. Encouraging students and researchers, he urged them to present innovative ideas and said the university would facilitate their transformation into tangible projects. He added that the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization would connect promising student research with national funding agencies.
Conference Chair Dr. Nasru Minallah thanked collaborating institutions, industry partners and participants for their contributions. He acknowledged the support of Prof. Dr. Haseeb Zafar of Cardiff University for facilitating the conference at UET Peshawar for the second consecutive year. He said all accepted papers would be published in SCOPUS-indexed Springer proceedings, enhancing the university’s international research visibility.
Among those present were Prof. Dr. Waqar Shah, Dean Electrical Engineering, Dr. Arif Khattak, Director ORIC, Dr. Khizar Azam Khan, Registrar, and Prof. Dr. Farid Khan, Director USPCA-E. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor presented a commemorative shield to the chief guest and certificates to session chairs and organizers, while representatives of Elegancia presented souvenirs to the chief guest.
