- Petrol price has increased to Rs 321.17 per litre.
- High-speed diesel has increased to Rs 355.86 per litre.
Islamabad, March 6, 2026 (Khyber Mail) — The government on Friday announced a massive increase of Rs 55 per litre in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, citing supply disruptions and volatility in international oil markets amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
The announcement was made by Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik during a joint press conference alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
According to the government, the revised prices will come into effect from midnight.
Under the new pricing structure:
- Petrol price has increased to Rs 321.17 per litre.
- High-speed diesel has increased to Rs 355.86 per litre.
Officials said the sharp hike was largely driven by rising global crude oil prices and emerging supply concerns linked to the escalating regional tensions involving Iran, which has affected shipping routes and market stability in the Gulf region.
Speaking at the press briefing, Ishaq Dar noted that the government had been closely monitoring the global oil market situation and had little choice but to pass on the increase to domestic consumers due to the sudden surge in international prices.
The ministers warned that continued instability in Middle Eastern energy supply routes could further impact petroleum prices, depending on developments in the coming days.
Economic analysts say the increase is expected to push up transportation costs and inflation, potentially affecting the prices of essential commodities across the country.
