Rabat, February 15, 2026 (Khyber Mail): The government of Morocco has rolled out a nationwide assistance program to support communities affected by severe flooding in the northern and western regions following exceptional rainfall over the past two months. The initiative is being implemented under high-level royal directives and aims to provide immediate relief and long-term recovery measures for impacted families.

According to an official statement issued in Rabat, all relevant departments have been mobilized to ensure effective execution of the program after detailed assessments of on-ground conditions and population needs. Authorities said the plan includes direct financial assistance of up to MAD 6,000 per affected family, MAD 15,000 for the rehabilitation of damaged homes and small businesses, and up to MAD 140,000 for the reconstruction of houses destroyed by floods.

Officials stated that emergency financial aid distribution will begin next week, with heads of affected households required to submit their electronic national identity details via text message for verification and processing. Survey commissions will also conduct detailed assessments in officially designated disaster zones to evaluate applications for reconstruction and rehabilitation assistance through transparent regulatory procedures.

In the agricultural sector, authorities announced targeted support for farmers through a spring crop program designed for disaster-affected areas, including assistance for oilseed, cereal and fodder cultivation, as well as subsidies for seeds and fertilizers aimed at accelerating recovery. Continued support for livestock farmers impacted by the floods was also outlined as part of the broader relief strategy.

The government emphasized that the initiative reflects an ongoing commitment to safeguarding affected populations through coordinated evacuation, displacement management and logistical mobilization, with the goal of ensuring safe returns to homes once conditions stabilize.
