Respected Sir/Madam,
As a concerned citizen, I want to talk about something students on both sides of the border are dealing with right now. In India, thousands of students are out on the streets, angry over a leaked medical entrance exam paper, a crisis serious enough that some students reportedly lost their lives over it. Watching this unfold, I couldn’t help but think, we are not very different here in Pakistan.
Just this year, in April, an A-Level math’s paper was leaked and circulated online hours before the exam, affecting close to 25,000 students. Weeks later, another Cambridge paper leaked, and leaked papers were reportedly being sold for tens of thousands of rupees. This wasn’t a one-time mistake either; a similar issue was reported just last year too. Every exam season, some paper or the other gets “leaked,” a few students who can pay get an unfair head start, and the rest are left wondering why they bothered studying so hard at all.
This isn’t just about one exam or one country. It’s about an entire generation slowly losing trust in the very system meant to reward their hard work. If we want students to actually believe in merit again, we need real consequences for those involved in leaks, and exam boards that take security seriously before the damage is done, not after. Otherwise, we will keep having this same conversation, year after year.
Yours sincerely,
Muhammad Rizwan
