Sir,
The debate over creating new provinces in Pakistan has persisted for many years. Supporters argue that smaller administrative units can improve governance, ensuring that people in distant and neglected areas receive better education, healthcare, and other essential facilities. They also believe that new provinces may generate more job opportunities and provide stronger political representation for local communities.
However, concerns remain. Establishing new provinces could increase government expenses and spark disputes over borders and resources. It may also encourage regional politics and divisions among the people. Critics suggest that Pakistan should first strengthen the existing system before considering additional provinces.
In my opinion, new provinces can be beneficial if they are formed according to public demand and proper planning. The government must carefully study their economic, political, and social impacts, and consult the people, parliament, and experts before making any final decision. A hasty move could create long?term problems.
Pakistan’s national interest should remain the guiding principle in this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Touqeer Abbas
