It is via your newspaper that I would like to attract the attention of the authorities and citizens at large to the increasing issue of bad road safety in our city. Accidents along the roads have been a common occurrence that has led to the loss of lives, injuries, and suffering of emotions to many families. With this matter in mind, the majority of these accidents may be avoided.
Many drivers disregard simple road signs such as speed limits, and road lane etiquette, as well as indicators. There are numerous motorcyclists who wear no helmets and vehicles in the roads are not suitable to drive. Also, broken roads, absence of streetlights, and missing signboards endanger all people, particularly children and old pedestrians.
I am also asking the relevant authorities to be very strict with traffic laws, enhance road infrastructure and carry out awareness programs to sensitize the people. Meanwhile, the citizens have to be responsible too since they should adhere to the rules of traffic and drive slowly and carefully.
With timely actions we will be able to curb accidents and ensure that our roads are safe to everyone. I wish that this significant problem will be addressed.
