• Airline cites regional instability; passengers offered rebooking or refunds

ROME — October 7, 2025 (Agencies): Italy’s national carrier ITA Airways has announced an extension of its suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv until the end of the year, citing ongoing regional instability. The decision also affects two scheduled flights on New Year’s Day 2026, the airline said in a statement released Monday.

ITA Airways, which is part of the Lufthansa Group, had initially planned to resume services to Israel on November 2, but has now postponed operations indefinitely. “Passengers can either have their flight rebooked at a later date or refunded,” the airline confirmed.

The move comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, including recent Israeli nighttime raids on Iran, which have prompted multiple international carriers to cancel flights to Israel and avoid flying over large parts of regional airspace.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza, now entering its second year, has led to widespread disruption of travel routes and raised concerns over passenger safety. Several airlines have adjusted their schedules or rerouted flights to minimize exposure to volatile zones.

ITA Airways said it continues to monitor the situation closely and will resume services once conditions allow for safe and stable operations.
