Tehran, December 28, 2025 (Agencies) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that Iran is currently facing what he described as a full-scale war involving the United States, European countries and Israel, reflecting a sharp escalation in Tehran’s rhetoric amid rising regional and international tensions.

In remarks reported by Iranian state-linked media, President Pezeshkian said the confrontation with Western powers and Israel is not limited to military pressure but also includes economic sanctions, political isolation, information campaigns and security challenges. He argued that these combined pressures amount to a comprehensive war aimed at weakening Iran’s independence and stability.

The Iranian president described the current situation as more complex and dangerous than the 1980–1988 Iran-Iraq war, noting that Iran is now confronting multiple adversaries simultaneously across different domains. He stressed that Tehran views sanctions, diplomatic pressure and regional military actions as interconnected elements of a broader strategy against the country.

Pezeshkian warned that Iran’s armed forces are prepared to respond decisively to any direct military attack, stating that the country’s defensive capabilities and readiness have significantly improved in recent years. He cautioned Washington and Israel against further escalation, saying any new strikes would be met with a firm response.

The comments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, following recent confrontations involving Israeli and US military actions and Iranian missile and drone responses. Western countries have also imposed additional sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program and regional activities, moves Tehran has strongly condemned.

Iranian officials have repeatedly accused the US and its allies of attempting to destabilize the country through sustained pressure, while Western governments argue that their actions are aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions and regional influence.

Analysts say the use of war-like language by Iranian leadership underscores the fragile security environment in the region and raises concerns about the risk of broader escalation, even as diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes to prevent a direct large-scale conflict.
