Beijing (Agencies) July 25, 2025 — In a significant diplomatic engagement reflecting the evolving strategic landscape of South Asia, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing on Friday. The meeting underscored the enduring strength of the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, now further reinforced by Munir’s elevation to the highest military rank.
Vice President Han lauded the bilateral relationship as one of “ironclad friendship,” built on high-level mutual trust, shared resilience, and a common vision for regional peace and development. He emphasized China’s commitment to implementing the strategic consensus reached by the leadership of both nations, and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation across defense, infrastructure, and regional security domains.
Field Marshal Munir, whose promotion was recently approved in recognition of his leadership during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and the Marka-e-Haq conflict with India, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China’s Global Development, Security, and Civilization Initiatives. He noted that friendly cooperation with China enjoys broad consensus across Pakistani society, and pledged to further strengthen military and strategic ties.
Munir assured that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully committed to safeguarding Chinese personnel and assets, particularly those linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He also highlighted Pakistan’s proactive role in counter-terrorism and regional stability, aligning with China’s broader Indo-Pacific security objectives.
