Dubai, December 16, 2025 (Agencies) – Dubai has set a new world record by hosting the largest game of Tetris ever created, transforming the night sky above the iconic Dubai Frame into a fully playable version of the classic puzzle game.
The spectacle was staged during the Red Bull Tetris World Final, where more than 2,000 synchronized drones replicated falling blocks in real time, allowing finalists to compete in front of a global audience.
Champions from 60 countries competed in the tournament. The winner was 19?year?old Turkish student Fehmi Atalar, who scored 168,566 points to become the first?ever Tetris world champion, defeating Peru’s Leo Solórzano in the grand finale.
The show also marked the 40th anniversary of Tetris and set a record as the largest outdoor Tetris installation ever staged.
Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov hailed the event as “one of my biggest dreams,” saying the drone-powered spectacle was a dream come true.
Organizers emphasized that the show was not only a gaming milestone but also a technological showcase, demonstrating Dubai’s growing role as a hub for mega-scale drone entertainment and esports innovation.
The dazzling display underscored the enduring cultural impact of Tetris, more than four decades after its creation, and highlighted the merging of gaming nostalgia with cutting-edge drone technology.
