NASHVILLE, August 26, 2026 (Agencies) — Dolly Parton, the legendary American country singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist whose career spanned more than six decades, has died at the age of 80, leaving behind one of the most influential legacies in country music and popular culture. Her publicist said she died peacefully in Nashville on Tuesday.
Parton’s representatives later confirmed that she had died following a “brief battle with cancer.” She died at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by family and loved ones. The type of cancer was not disclosed.
