Bangkok, September 15, 2025 (Agencies): China and Thailand will hold their annual joint air force exercise, “Falcon Strike-2025,” later this month, marking the fourth consecutive year of the high-profile training program. The drills are scheduled to take place in mid-to-late September at a Royal Thai Air Force base, the Chinese Defense Ministry announced on Monday.

The Chinese contingent will include multiple types of aircraft, ground-based air defense forces, and supporting units. The exercise aims to improve the technical and tactical capabilities of participating troops while deepening mutual trust and operational cooperation between the two militaries.
According to Chinese military affairs expert Zhang Junshe, the regular hosting of the “Falcon Strike” series demonstrates the high level of strategic confidence between Beijing and Bangkok and contributes to regional peace and stability. He noted that the exercise allows both countries to learn from each other’s operational experiences and equipment systems, helping to strengthen interoperability.
Previous editions of “Falcon Strike” were held in August 2022, July 2023, and August 2024, featuring joint missions that included air combat simulations, tactical maneuvers, and mixed formation drills. During last year’s exercise, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force deployed J-10C fighter jets, while the Thai Air Force fielded its JAS-39 Gripen aircraft.
Military observers suggest that Thailand may show renewed interest in the J-10C after its successful performance in international air combat scenarios earlier this year. The exercise continues to serve as a platform for advancing practical cooperation and enhancing defense diplomacy between the two nations.
