Beijing/Islamabad, September 28, 2025 (Khyber Mail): The first batch of emergency flood relief supplies from China has arrived in Islamabad on Sunday aboard two Chinese Air Force Y-20 transport aircraft, according to the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and state media reports.

The supplies, dispatched from Zhengzhou in Henan Province earlier in the day, mainly consist of tents, blankets, and other essential items to support those affected by devastating monsoon floods across Pakistan, China Central Television (CCTV) and Xinhua reported.

China had earlier provided $2 million in emergency aid following the floods, which since June have affected over 4.2 million people in Punjab province alone. To further assist Pakistan, Beijing has pledged an additional 100 million yuan (approximately $14 million) worth of relief materials, including life jackets, sleeping bags, assault boats, and more tents and blankets.

Li Ming, spokesperson for the China International Development Cooperation Agency, stated that the remaining batches of relief goods are being assembled and will be delivered in the coming days.

According to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), around three million people have been rescued or evacuated nationwide between June 26 and September 19. Floods have also damaged more than 12,500 homes and caused the deaths of 6,509 livestock, worsening the humanitarian crisis.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) highlighted in a rapid needs assessment that southern districts of Punjab have been particularly hard-hit, with urgent needs in shelter, food, and medical support.
