New York City, August 17, 2025 (Agencies) — A tragic mass shooting unfolded early Sunday morning at the Taste of the City Lounge in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, leaving three men dead and eight others wounded, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD).
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. at the popular venue located at 903 Franklin Avenue, where a dispute reportedly escalated into gunfire. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed that 36 shell casings were recovered from the scene, indicating the use of multiple firearms. A weapon was also found nearby on Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway, though its connection to the shooting is still under investigation.
The deceased victims include two men aged 27 and 35, and a third male whose age has not yet been confirmed. The eight surviving victims—ranging in age from 27 to 61—were rushed to local hospitals. Their conditions are reported to be non-life-threatening, though further updates are awaited.
Police believe multiple shooters were involved, but no arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to identify suspects and determine the motive behind the attack.
Commissioner Tisch described the shooting as “a terrible thing” and emphasized that such incidents remain rare in the city. “We have the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year that we’ve seen on record in the city of New York,” she said, calling the event “an anomaly” amid declining gun violence statistics.
The block surrounding the lounge remains cordoned off as forensic teams continue to process the crime scene. The NYPD has urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
