Every citizen dreams of living in a clean, developed, and well-managed city — one where public representatives work honestly for the welfare of the people. Unfortunately, for the residents of Therhi, District Khairpur Mirs, this dream remains unfulfilled. Day by day, our city’s condition continues to worsen due to negligence, political silence, and the lack of proper civic management.

One of the most visible problems in Therhi is the poor condition of our roads and streets. Many of them are broken, full of potholes, and often covered with dirty water. Instead of serving as pathways of convenience, our roads have turned into daily obstacles for residents. The situation becomes even worse during rainy days when streets flood and commuting becomes nearly impossible. This not only slows daily life but also damages vehicles and increases the risk of accidents.

Another major issue faced by the people of Therhi is waterlogging and poor sanitation. Due to an inefficient drainage system, water often stands on the roads for days, creating foul smells and becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes and diseases. Despite several complaints by residents, the concerned departments have shown little to no action. The absence of timely cleaning and maintenance reflects the careless attitude of local authorities toward public health.

Recently, the City Chairman of Therhi announced a project to install filter plants at various locations to provide clean and safe drinking water. At first, this initiative brought hope and appreciation from the public. However, soon after, that hope faded. Today, most of these plants are either incomplete or non-functional. When residents visit these filter points to fill their bottles, they often find the plants closed or the machines not working. Some of them operate occasionally but fail to provide consistent service. The project that was meant to deliver clean water to the people has turned into a symbol of poor execution and lack of maintenance.

Besides the infrastructure issues, the people of Therhi are also suffering from frequent power outages and gas shortages. Electricity cuts occur without any fixed schedule, disturbing students, businessmen, and households. During the winter, the shortage of gas

makes daily life even harder. Such basic issues remain unresolved, yet no serious steps are being taken to provide relief to the public.

What hurts citizens the most is the silence of local politicians and elected representatives. Those who promised progress and comfort during election campaigns are now invisible. Their lack of attention toward public problems shows a disappointing attitude of irresponsibility. Public offices are not rewards; they are responsibilities — responsibilities to listen, to act, and to deliver.

The people of Therhi are not demanding luxuries — they are asking for basic rights: clean water, safe roads, proper drainage, and continuous electricity and gas supply. These are fundamental needs that every citizen deserves.

It is high time for the local government and city administration to take notice. Projects like the water filter plants should be completed and maintained properly. Roads and drainage systems should be repaired immediately. Public funds should be used transparently and effectively.

Our city has great potential, but without proper attention and accountability, progress will remain just a dream. The people of Therhi deserve better — they deserve a city that works for them, not against them.
