Rawalpindi March 17, 2026 (Khyber Mail): A suspected unmanned aerial vehicle, believed to have been neutralised by Pakistani security systems, crashed into a residential house in the Chaklala Garrison area, causing property damage but no loss of life.
The incident occurred at a residence in Defence Forces Colony near ADC Headquarters in Chaklala Garrison. The house belongs to Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Khan Malghani, serving as G1 Operations at Defence Forces Headquarters. According to initial reports, the drone fell onto House No. 17, damaging parts of the structure and vehicles parked within the premises.

A preliminary assessment showed that the main door of the house was damaged, along with two vehicles at the rear side. Two internal doors and window glass panes were also affected, while the building sustained partial structural damage.
While authorities have not issued an official statement confirming the nature of the incident, recent security developments suggest the UAV may have been intercepted mid-air. Pakistani security forces have in recent days successfully detected and neutralised multiple drones near Rawalpindi using electronic and defensive measures, with debris from intercepted drones causing minor damage on the ground.
Security sources previously confirmed that such drones were brought down before reaching intended targets, often resulting in falling debris in nearby civilian areas.
The latest incident comes amid escalating tensions in the region, where Pakistan has reported repeated drone incursions targeting sensitive and civilian locations. Officials say several of these UAVs were launched from across the border and were intercepted before impact, though debris has occasionally led to limited damage and injuries.
Security personnel and technical teams reached the site shortly after the crash, cordoned off the area, and began collecting debris to determine the drone’s origin and technical specifications. Investigations are ongoing.
