Kyiv, March 20, 2026 (Agencies) – The Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has accused the Kremlin of launching a coordinated campaign to undermine international support for Ukraine by spreading claims related to energy supplies to the European Union.
In a statement shared on social media, the center said Russia-controlled sources are circulating what it described as unverified allegations that Ukraine is engaging in “energy terrorism” by attempting to disrupt energy flows to Europe.
According to Ukrainian officials, the campaign promotes several narratives, including claims that Ukraine’s actions threaten European energy security, that Kyiv is pressuring European nations for financial and military assistance, and that it is allegedly manipulating key infrastructure such as the Druzhba oil pipeline and gas routes including TurkStream and Blue Stream.
The center rejected these assertions as “false and manipulative,” stating that their purpose is to create distrust between Ukraine and its European partners, portray Kyiv as an unreliable ally, and weaken broader international backing.
Ukrainian authorities further argued that it is Russia that has historically used energy resources as a geopolitical tool, accusing Moscow of targeting energy infrastructure during the conflict and contributing to instability affecting European countries.
The statement emphasized that Russia continues to refuse ending the war and is responsible for actions that have had wider consequences for regional energy security and international relations.
