Alamogordo, March 18 2026 (Agencies) – One person was killed and another wounded in a shooting Tuesday evening at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, military officials confirmed.

The incident occurred near the base’s convenience store around 5:30 PM, prompting a temporary lockdown. Emergency personnel responded quickly, and authorities later stated there was “no threat at this time.” The injured individual was transported for medical treatment, while the store will remain closed until further notice.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released, and officials have not provided further details about the circumstances of the shooting.

Holloman Air Force Base, covering 93 square miles, is home to the 49th Wing, which supports national security missions with combat-ready airmen and guardians.

This marks the latest in a series of violent incidents at U.S. military facilities. In February 2025, a shooting at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque left one airman dead and another wounded. Last year, a sergeant opened fire on coworkers at Fort Stewart in Georgia, injuring five soldiers.
