Malakand March 17, 2026 (Khyber Mail): Ms Maryam Nawaz, an MPhil scholar at the University of Malakand, has successfully defended her thesis in the Department of Mathematics, marking a significant academic achievement.

Her research focused on the impact of treatment and hospitalisation on the spread and effective control of Mumps, contributing valuable insights into managing infectious diseases.

The thesis was supervised by Dr Amanullah, while Dr Muhammad Adil served as the external examiner from the University of Peshawar.

During the defense session, Dr Imtiaz Ahmad, along with faculty members and the external examiner, appreciated the scholar’s research work and congratulated her on successfully completing her degree.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Maryam Nawaz expressed gratitude to her teachers, parents, family members, friends, and well-wishers for their continued support throughout her academic journey.

Her accomplishment is being seen as an important milestone, with her research expected to contribute to ongoing efforts aimed at understanding and controlling mumps and similar infectious diseases.
