Islamabad, February 15, 2026 (Khyber Mail): Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has sought technical assistance from the technical wing of the Pakistan Army to enhance its operational capacity in tackling increasingly complex cybercrime cases, according to official correspondence sent to the federal interior ministry.
Sources said the agency’s director general has written to the Ministry of Interior requesting the services of eight specialized officers to support ongoing cyber investigations and strengthen digital security operations. The request cites the rapid evolution of cybercrime and internet-based offences, which now require advanced expertise, modern technology, and highly trained personnel.
Under the proposed plan, the officers would be deputed to the agency for a period of two years, with two posted at headquarters in Islamabad, two each in Lahore and Karachi, and one each in Peshawar and Quetta. Officials believe the deployment would help improve response times, digital forensic capabilities and coordination in cyber investigations.
The agency, which operates under the federal interior division, was established to investigate electronic crimes and strengthen national cyber security efforts amid growing online threats.
Officials familiar with the matter said the initiative aims to improve institutional capacity against sophisticated cyberattacks and enhance the speed and quality of investigations through technical support and inter-agency cooperation. No official announcement has yet been made regarding approval of the proposal.
