Tel Aviv/Beirut, December 14, 2025 (Agencies) – The Israeli military announced on Sunday that it had targeted three members of the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in southern Lebanon, accusing them of attempting to reestablish terror infrastructure in violation of a ceasefire agreement.

“Since this morning, the IDF has struck three Hezbollah terrorists in several areas in southern Lebanon. The terrorists took part in attempts to reestablish Hezbollah’s terror infrastructure,” the military said in a statement. It added that their activities constituted a breach of the November 2024 ceasefire, which was brokered to end more than a year of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah following the Gaza war in October 2023.

Despite the truce, Israel has repeatedly carried out strikes in Lebanon, saying they are aimed at preventing Hezbollah from rearming and redeploying.

On Saturday, the Israeli military issued a warning of an imminent strike, urging residents in the Yanuh area of southern Lebanon to evacuate immediately. However, Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee later said the strike was “temporarily suspended” after the Lebanese army requested access to the site to address the alleged breach of the agreement. He stressed that the IDF “continues to monitor the target” and would “not allow Hezbollah to redeploy or rearm.”

The ceasefire monitoring mechanism includes the United Nations, the United States, and France. A Lebanese security source told AFP that the army had previously attempted to search the building Israel intended to strike but was blocked by residents. The source added that the army was able to enter and search the site after returning a second time, as residents “felt threatened” and were evacuated over fears of an imminent attack.

The latest incident underscores the fragility of the ceasefire and the ongoing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where sporadic clashes and accusations of violations continue to raise concerns of renewed escalation.
