Peshawar/Quetta/Islamabad, September 11, 2025 (Khyber Mail): Security forces and law enforcement agencies across Pakistan have been engaged in a series of counter-terror operations and responses to militant attacks over the past 48 hours, resulting in multiple casualties among militants and tragic losses among security personnel and civilians.
In Pishin, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) that led to the killing of four terrorists in an exchange of fire. According to CTD officials, two machine guns, two pistols, two grenades, explosives, prima cords, and detonators were seized from the site. The slain suspects were reportedly involved in various sabotage activities.
In Kharan, unidentified armed men attacked a family in the remote Khokab area of Tehsil Patkan, killing four members and abducting four others. Deputy Commissioner Kharan confirmed the incident, saying all victims were local residents; a search operation is underway to trace the abductees.
In Kalat, security forces came under attack in the Sheikhri and Makki areas. Militants targeted personnel near a previously damaged vehicle in Sheikhri, while an improvised explosive device (IED) was used in Makki. Clearance operations are ongoing and official confirmation is awaited. In Bolan, militants temporarily blocked the main highway at Bibi Nani and conducted unauthorized snap checks of vehicles before security forces restored normal traffic flow. In Kech, militants intercepted a vehicle reportedly carrying supplies for security forces in the Mand area and seized the goods; a recovery operation is underway.
In Dir Lower, security forces clashed with militants of Fitna al-Khawarij in Lal Qila, with casualties reported on both sides. In a related intelligence-based operation in Sarbanda and Lalu Jungle, authorities said 10 Khawarij militants were killed while one security personnel was martyred; sources allege militants used women and children as human shields and operations remain ongoing.
In Dera Ismail Khan, security forces killed one militant during an exchange of fire in the jurisdiction of Khaoi Bahara police station and recovered his body from the scene. In Orakzai, three individuals were abducted by Khawarij militants from a civilian vehicle in the Gharhi area along Shaho Road; authorities are working to trace the abductees despite communications challenges in the region.
In Lower Waziristan, the Toji Khel tribe announced that banned groups TTP and TTJ will not be permitted to operate in their area and warned that militants refusing to leave voluntarily would be expelled. In Lakki Marwat, terrorists attacked the residence of a security official in Sarai Naurang, taking family members hostage and partially destroying the house with explosives before fleeing with valuables. In another incident in Tatarkhel, militants stormed a branch of the National Bank, took the watchman hostage, looted cash, vandalized computers and cameras, and set fire to equipment before fleeing.
Security officials in Mohmand confirmed that Wazir, a senior TTP commander from Swabi, was among 14 militants killed in an intelligence-based operation in Guluno on September 9–10. Authorities called his death a significant blow to the TTP’s command structure.
In Peshawar, unidentified gunmen shot and killed Constable Atif Khan of Char Pariza in the Mathra area; police cordoned off the locality and launched a search operation. In Karachi, a police personnel was critically wounded in Shah Latif Town after unidentified assailants opened fire; he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died during treatment, police said. A manhunt has been launched to trace the attackers.
Officials say the recent operations and tribal resolutions signal a growing pushback against militant groups in the northwest, even as the surge in attacks underlines the continuing threat posed by TTP, Khawarij factions and other extremist elements. Security forces remain on high alert, with clearance and follow-up operations underway in several affected districts.
