Meckenbeuren, Germany / Kyiv, Ukraine (Agencies) — 14 July 2025: German defense contractor Rheinmetall has delivered its fourth mobile rescue station to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reinforcing the country’s medical infrastructure amid ongoing conflict. The Role 2-type field hospital is part of a broader initiative to enhance Ukraine’s ability to provide rapid, professional care to wounded soldiers near combat zones.

The modular system comprises three truck-trailers, each outfitted with two expandable container modules. Once deployed, these modules form a fully functional medical treatment center with dedicated zones for triage, emergency care, X-ray diagnostics, surgical operations, and intensive care. The design allows for rapid relocation and setup, even in rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions.

The 20ft containers are engineered for seamless integration into military logistics and command frameworks, enabling the station to operate as part of a larger tactical network. This flexibility ensures that medical support can be deployed close to the front lines without compromising safety or efficiency.

Ukrainian service members received specialized training at Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH’s facility in Meckenbeuren. The program covered operation of mobile infrastructure and container deployment, use of advanced medical equipment including ventilators, X-ray machines, patient monitors, and surgical instruments, as well as protocols for rapid deployment, field patient care, and team coordination.

“The Ukrainian soldiers participated in the training in a highly professional and committed manner,” said Armin Krenn, CEO of Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH. “Especially under the current operational conditions, safe handling of the systems and of the medical equipment is crucial for saving lives on the front line.”

This latest delivery is part of a multi-year agreement between Rheinmetall and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence. In addition to the four mobile stations already delivered, eight Forward Surgical Team stations are scheduled for deployment by the end of 2026, along with continued training programs.

Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH, a subsidiary of the Rheinmetall Group, specializes in mobile infrastructure solutions for crisis zones, including medical shelters, telecommunications systems, and command posts. Their technology is designed for flexibility, durability, and rapid deployment, making it ideal for modern battlefield conditions.
